Maybe you look back at years you can’t get back: a career that went nowhere, a relationship you damaged, a habit that took over, time spent far from God. It can feel as if the door to a different life has closed.

A God who restores

Through the prophet Joel, God spoke to people whose land had been stripped bare by locusts, a picture of years destroyed:

I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.

Joel 2:25

That doesn’t mean every loss is undone. It means the story isn’t over.

It is never too late

Jesus was executed between two criminals. One of them, with hours left to live, turned to him:

He said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Luke 23:42–43

Jesus also told a story about a son who wasted everything and came home hoping to be taken on as a servant. His father saw him from far away and ran to embrace him (Luke 15:11–32). That is how Jesus described God’s welcome.

A new creation

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Starting again rarely means pretending the past didn’t happen. Some relationships take time to rebuild, and some can’t be fully repaired. But you can begin today, with God, wherever you are.

If you would like to talk about starting again, or to find a church where you can do it with others, we are here to help.
